Streaming Video

Alongside public video streaming services such as YouTube and Vimeo, the Teaching & Learning Technologies department hosts a video streaming service called Mediaspace, that is available to all staff and faculty.

Select the group that administers your website to learn specifics about your management platform.

University Information Technology - Modern Campus CMS (formerly Omni CMS)

The Modern Campus CMS Editor's Insert/Edit Video tool allows users to include responsive videos on a page. If you own the video, we recommend uploading it to a streaming server such as YouTube, Vimeo or mediaspace.utah.edu, then embedding it on your page. University Marketing & Communications - WordPress

WordPress supports YouTube and Vimeo streams. Simply drop the share link inline in your content (WordPress automatically embeds the video) or use one of many plugins that support YouTube, Vimeo, as well as locally hosted video content.

U of U Health - Acquia

  • We utilize a separate Kaltura instance from campus.
  • Uploading video to Kaltura allows us to tag video and have it show automatically in relevant webpages, for example tagging a video with a UNID allows a video to display on a physician’s profile or we can setup a category for grand rounds that when added to will populate a page displaying all of the grand rounds for a particular department.
  • We discourage using You Tube or Vimeo but if there is no need to display the video in other places youtube or vimeo can be used to upload then embed on a page.
  • Anyone with a unid can upload video to the U of U Health mediaspace https://hsc.mediaspace.kaltura.com/
  • Contact the U of U Health Web Team if you need to setup a category or tag to automate playlists or automatically displaying videos on webpages, otherwise upload to mediaspace and embed on an individual basis.
