Accessibility

Accessibility and 508 compliance are critical to providing a quality user experience, especially in a publicly funded, higher education environment - and it's the law. While accessibility can be a complex issue to tackle, simply following best practices like including alt tags on images and ensuring your navigation and web content is easily navigable using a screen reader goes a long way.

University Information Technology - Modern Campus CMS (formerly Omni CMS)

The UIT web team understands the importance of the web being easily accessed by everyone regardless of ability, and constructs Modern Campus CMS web templates and tools from the ground up with that in mind. By using both automated tools, as well as sitting down with real users that have different abilities, we ensure compliance with WCAG 2.0 level AA standards, and a comparable user experience for all audiences.

University Marketing & Communications - WordPress

UMC has gone to great lengths to ensure the WordPress theme is accessible up to and beyond WCAG 2.0 standards. Accessibility is an ongoing practice and UMC works to monitor and run accessibility audits each month, as well as look for ways to improve the user experience for everyone. UMC’s standard training includes accessibility best practices for content owners.

UMC also utilizes Dynomapper to run accessibility audits and sitemap tools.
